Double Page Spread Constuction

 I used this photo as inspiration for my magazine, this is because I like the layout of the magazine and the way it captures the eye of the viewer.

 I started my double page spread by making the background of my page. I did this by just putting some random coloured blocks around the page to make it less boring and more colourful.

I then made the writing for my magazine. I put the quote in black and the subheading of the story in pink, just to separate the sentences and make the magazine pop.

 I then decided to make the writing longer. This is because the magazine I took inspiration from had the heading of the writing half way down the page, making it the main focal point of the page.

This is how my writing started off. I did have both bits of writing in black with the subheading slightly bigger to try and separate it, but I didn't think this added any colour and didn't look eye-catching enough for my magazine.

 So this is when I decided to add the pink to my make my background a bit more colourful and make it again more eye-catching. And obsessed with the layout of this point for a split second i forgot to spell check!

At the start of my story I wanted to add a bigger, bolder letter. I originally made it the same colour as my background and subheading but I thought it looked uninteresting and the page needed a bigger burst of colour.

 I then decided to make the letter a brighter shade of pink but again the page looked too pink, uninteresting and looked too 'young' for my magazine.

So I decided to add a colour from my contents page to my colour pallet. This made the double page spread a lot brighter and a lot nicer to look at. It became more eye-catching and more interesting.

I then thought the writing on my page needed more as the letter at the beginning was bold and interesting so the story should be too. I again added the blue colour to my story and it made it look a lot more interesting and looked a lot more finished.

 I put a box here to test whether a picture would look right here.

I added a star at the top of my page so it didn't look bottom heavy and also so the readers knew that this page is the most important page out of the whole magazine.

This is my completed first page, I just need to add the picture.

 I then began using the colour pallet from my cover page to create the second page of my double page spread. On my second page I will have a picture just simply of the 2 girls from misfits so I thought a banner at the top would be perfect to put my logo and the band name on.








This is the picture I have decided to use for my double page spread.

 To edit this picture I cropped the girls out and make the picture brighter, I cropped them because they were too far apart to use for the page. Also, it would look better when they are closer together. I also used a fill tool to make her lips and her top look pink and to make the background of my image white. I also flipped her round because thought she looked better on this side.














I then flipped Chloe around as well because she had to go on the other side of the page to Isobel. I made Chloe look more tanned but didn't make her look a lot lighter as she looks bright enough with the white background.

To get the girls to look right on the page I turned down the opacity of the picture to make them more faded and make the background easier to see.

Here I added the final picture of the girls walking away which ties the page together and made it look finished.
